The Lovington unit of the Lea County Hospital System was closed on April 26, 1974. The citizens of Lovington and Tatum formed a coalition and campaigned to reopen the hospital. A one-day radio blitz to fund this effort in May of 1974 netted more than $30,000. With community support evident, the coalition lobbied for the New Mexico State Legislature to establish a new hospital district in Lovington. Nor-Lea Hospital District became a reality on July 15, 1980.

Nor-Lea Foundation will assist in preserving the past success of the hospital district and will embrace the future by growing and evolving to meet the needs of Northern Lea County and the surrounding area.
Nor-Lea Foundation accepts and manages gifts from individuals and corporations in order to continue exemplary healthcare to our community.

Redirecting assets away from taxes to institutions of your own choosing can diminish tax burdens while supporting the highest quality healthcare for our community and surrounding area.

Monetary gifts will be used by the Nor-Lea Foundation as directed by the donor.
Gifts or donations may be made in honor of a living person or a loved one who has passed away.

Nor-Lea Foundation accepts donations of new or used, quality medical equipment for loan to non-funded patients under the care of Nor-Lea Hospital District providers. Donations of equipment, such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, quad-canes and bath safety equipment can be deducted as a charitable contribution on your taxes.

An honorarium can be a wonderful tribute to a dedicated staff member, or a special way of recognizing an individual’s kindness or accomplishments. Bequests represent a way to contribute to the mission of Nor-Lea Foundation. Funds can be transferred to the foundation in the form of cash, property and/or securities, which the Foundation will administer as provided in your will.
Trusts can be established as a variety of vehicles that reflect your values and wishes to assist others through Nor-Lea Foundation, while providing a tax benefit for yourself.

Endowment is a venue that provides continuous funding for vital programs and projects within Nor-Lea Hospital District. Endowments utilize on the interest from invested funds and can be used for the greatest needs or restricted to specified uses.
